US Capitol Crypt Statue Hall
Barbara Johns Statue Entry

These are speculative renderings put together for a request for proposal from the National Statuary Hall Collection to create a memorial statue of Barbara Johns to be placed in the US Capitol Crypt.
The sculptor sent the 3D file of the sculpture, and I modeled the crypt, placed the sculpture model, and produced renderings for the sculptor’s proposal package.
This was a particularly challenging model to create, since the Architect of the Capitol’s office is understandably quite reluctant to just send out CAD plans of the Capitol building, so I had to go off searching through archives to find plans that were suitable to 3D model off of. I think it’s the only time that I’ve modeled a structure off of hand-drafted plans!
